Square Foot Design & Build is practically brand new. Kenny Down (President) began the business in mid-2006. But the foundation for Square Foot is more than 25 years worth of Kenny's extensive expertise and performance excellence in building and renovating homes.
Kenny learned the business from scratch in his father's HVAC company, Roland J. Down, Inc., of Schenectady, New York. In a little more than 17 years, he worked his way up from warehouse helper to Vice President. The experience taught him that you can start from nothing and wind up on top, just like his dad did. Roland Down began his business with one worker – himself – and one truck. Forty years later, he was one of the top HVAC contractors in the Northeast, with 125 workers and 80 trucks. |

In 1997, Kenny, his wife, Antonia, and their two sons, Nick and Julian, moved south to Woodstock, Georgia. Less than two years later, Kenny and a partner opened Premier Indoor Comfort Systems. Again, like his dad, Kenny's strong work ethic and devotion to customer service paid off. The company prospered. In just four short years, it grew to more than $4 million in sales.
Success bred success. In 2004, Kenny sold his interest in Premier Indoor Comfort Systems to join another partner in launching J & K Builder Group, a home building and remodeling company. By the time J&K built a contracting portfolio of more than 25 jobs, Kenny knew the time was right to begin Square Foot.
Kenny has a deep and abiding affection for the community where he works and lives. A resident of BridgeMill, he is active in Hillside United Methodist Church, where he has served as a trustee and men's ministry leader. |
